Since creating my first perfume illustration, I have wanted to marry my love for flowers with my love for perfume illustrations. And now that I have done it, I am so glad I did!
It was so interesting to see how different perfume bottle designs are for women and men. Sketching out the different bottle designs was therefore a lot of fun as they varied so much. And the colour choices for the female and male bottle designs were also so versatile. So it was really inspiring to experiment with different colour palettes!
It is my dream to create some of these illustrations for a magazine as a spot or editorial illustration, for a perfume brand etc. for an advertisement. Or even perform this skill live at a live event for a beauty brand!
Disclaimer: It is important to me to say that I did not produce any of these sketches and paintings to sell or reproduce them. These works were solely done for fun, as a creative practice and to broaden my skills. The copyright of the original bottle design and perfume name belong to the respective brands. And please note that, I will only illustrate the products for you that you own the copyright for, i.e. that can be authorized by your brand.
This is where it started. Beautiful perfume illustrations.
The inspiration
For these illustrations I decided to have a closer look at the different scent components of the perfumes and let that inspire the florals, plants or spices that I would sketch out. Since the fragrances are created with a variety of scents, I only focused on two to three different ones.
I also decided to always place the perfume bottles in the centre of the illustration and then arranged the scents around them.
Female perfumes
I chose two female perfumes to show you in this blog post. Libre by Yves Saint Laurent and Lancôme Idôle Now. Both perfume bottles caught my eye and the scents of the perfumes sounded lovely and exciting.
Libre by Yves Saint-Laurent. The perfume is based on vanilla, cedar and orange blossom scent notes. I also added some sparkle to show the gold detail on the bottle.
Idôle by Lancôme. A scent made up of rose, orchid and vanilla scent notes. The bottle design is simple but timeless.
Male perfumes
For the male perfumes, I decided to sketch and paint Dune by Dior and Born in Roma Intense by Valentino. I was drawn both to the shapes of the bottles and also to the different colours.
Dune by Dior. Smells like cedar and jasmine. I loved the elegant bottle design and the cool green of the perfume.
Born in Roma Intense by Valentino. A gorgeous bouquet of vanilla and vetiver. And a very dramatic bottle design and colour choices.
I hope you enjoyed hearing and seeing a bit more of my perfume illustrations!
