As you might remember, I declared last summer to be the summer of play. And it was the best decision! I just let my creative mind wonder and experiment with different mediums and painting subjects. It was really nice and liberating.
So during that summer, whenever I had a spare minute or on the weekends, I experimented with different mediums and painting subjects.
These beauty illustrations started as fun sketches and a practice of my observational drawing skills. I wanted to focus on painting from „life“. And thankfully, I had different perfume bottles at hand.
But I didn’t stop at the sketching phase, because I liked them, I then went ahead and got out my watercolours.
Perfume and beauty illustrations are perfect for editorials or spot illustrations in magazines.
I love wearing perfume and often admire beautiful and aesthetic perfume bottles. But sketching them was never on my list of things I might be doing. But I’m so glad that I sat down that day and just randomly sketched my favourite perfume bottles. Now I’m happy to add this to my repertoire of illustration skills and subjects.
But before we dive even more into the images, I’d like to add this important disclaimer:
It is important to me to say that I did not produce any of these sketches and paintings to sell or reproduce them. These works were solely done for fun and as a creative practice. The copyright of the original bottle design and perfume name belong to the respective brands.
I work with watercolour and metallic paint to create the signature features of the perfume bottles and beauty products.
I really love how these works turned out! And it was also so relaxing to work on these different shapes.
My watercolours were perfect for the style that I was going for. I also added some metallic shimmer to the perfume bottles.
Look at that sparkle!
I’m looking forward to experimenting more and combining these perfume bottles with florals in the future.
What do you think? And what is your favourite perfume?
