Rosinas Garten Custom Floral Branding

I am proud to show you (and tell you aaaalll about it!) the beautiful custom branding that I created for Katrin Vonderheid-Wunderlich from Rosinas Garten (IG: @rosinasgarten)! This project was truly a labour of love.

Working together with other people who are passionate about what they do is one of my favourite things in my work as a self-employed artist. And I am so happy and honoured that Katrin trusted me with this. Thanks so much, Katrin!

So let’s tell you all about this wonderful project!

Meaning behind Rosinas Garten

Rosinas Garten means Rosina’s Garden in German. Rosina was the name of Katrin’s late Grandmother.

Both of Katrin’s grandmothers were enthusiastic gardeners, who awakened and encouraged Katrin’s love of gardening.

Katrin’s Mission and the DNA of Rosinas Garten

As it is for me, with Zamavi Prints (IG: @zamaviprints), Rosinas Garten is a labour of love for Katrin.

With her creations, Katrin aims to bring a smile to the faces of those around her. And she achieves this with ease, playfulness, and a touch of pragmatism. Katrin also is a part of the so-called Slowflower initiative, who value, grow and work with organic, seasonal and sustainable flowers.

All of this needed to be shown both in the logo but also in the complete branding of Rosinas Garten.

Katrin’s logo therefore isn’t a traditional, minimalistic logo. But it represents Katrin’s personality, values and floral art. It was very important to the both of us to convey these three things with the logo, so we decided to go against the grain and show at a glance the versatility of Katrin’s work. And also show the intricacy of florals and their seasonality at the same time.

If you have seen Katrin’s beautiful flower arranging work on Instagram, you might have noticed that she doesn’t choose regular vases for her blossoms and twigs. But instead she uses gorgeous jugs, jars etc. to present her work. It therefore was clear early on that this was a signature element that makes Rosinas Garten unique.

For Katrin @rosinasgarten, slowflowers represent a return to the primal: in her work, Katrin wants to feel the earth, allow small miracles to grow, and create beauty with her hands and her mind. All of this is encompassed in Katrin’s logo.

The fluidity of seasons

There are quite a lot of flowers in the logo of Rosinas Garten. 9 in fact!

So much happens in the course of a gardening year, but very gently and gradually, with the transitions sometimes being fluid.  Dividing it into “only“ four seasons is not always sufficient.

Following a book by Isabelle van Groeningen Katrin looks at the year as having 7 different seasons. I found this view very intriguing and also eye-opening!

Based on these 7 seasons, Katrin chose her favourite flowers. And we also added two more florals for good measure.

So Katrin chose:

Daffodil, peony, foxglove, dahlia, sedum, blackthorn, hellebore, anemone and cosmos.

We both don’t like even numbers in our work, so going with 9 flowers felt good.

Zainab impressed me with her expertise, structured approach, and warm personality, so I commissioned her not just for my logo, but for an entire branding package. Due to the great distance between our homes, we communicated only via email, WhatsApp, and video calls, which worked wonderfully. I felt perfectly advised and superbly supported throughout the entire collaboration. I would definitely hire Zainab again and would happily recommend her.“ - Katrin Vonderheid-Wunderlich

Gathering inspiration for my pattern collections

This week I thought I’d share with you, how I gather inspiration for my pattern collections.

I’ve really made a deep dive into pattern design in the last week. I’ve been gathering more inspiration for my patterns and looking at the artwork that I’ve created the last months (or years…). And I’ve started to pick up again where I left off on this surface pattern design journey.

Non-floral custom product painting & perfume illustrations

I am always experimenting with new painting designs. And it was time to come up with some designs for clients or customers who would like to have a design that was not floral in nature.

So I sat down and experimented with my paints and got inspired by the beautiful perfume bottles and product packaging that surrounded me.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to the designs. And I want to begin by sharing just a few. These designs are perfect for both in-studio and events live on-site.

Floral perfume illustrations

Since creating my first perfume illustration, I have wanted to marry my love for flowers with my love for perfume illustrations. And now that I have done it, I am so glad I did!

It was so interesting to see how different perfume bottle designs are for women and men. Sketching out the different bottle designs was therefore a lot of fun as they varied so much. And the colour choices for the female and male bottle designs were also so versatile. So it was really inspiring to experiment with different colour palettes!

It is my dream to create some of these illustrations for a magazine as a spot or editorial illustration, for a perfume brand etc. for an advertisement. Or even perform this skill live at a live event for a beauty brand!
