Custom Floral Branding

Working on custom floral branding projects is one of my favourite things to do in my professional work.

That’s why I would like to tell you a bit more about how I go about these projects and what it is like to work with me on a custom floral branding project.

My motivation

I pride myself on creating tailored floral branding work (and custom commissions like package design, spot illustrations for editorials or corporate greeting cards etc.!) for my clients. I just love to work hand in hand with them on their creative vision! And it is so much fun to work on a project that is near and dear to my client and that they are passionate about.

Your brand and your design project should be as unique as you are."

I therefore take great care and pay a lot of attention to details when bringing your creative vision to life. And I work closely together with you to align the branding concept with your ideas. I do this in writing form through e-mails and questionnaires but also through (video) calls, mood boards and presentations. And in my sketches too, of course!

When working on these custom brands and commissions, I lean on what I learned during my Master’s in Cultural, Media and Communication Studies, namely to plan cohesive concepts and to strategize. It is wonderful that I now get to combine this strategic approach with creativity.

What is part of the Branding packages:

I offer two different branding packages to my clients.

Namely,

  • the logo design

or

  • the full Branding, which incl. the logo design, brand colours, typography and brand elements etc.

An initial (rough) logo sketch that I created for Katrin Vonderheid-Wunderlich, who is a slowflower florist. Katrin’s company is called Rosinas Garten, after her grandmother.

In the end we went for a different logo design and logo style.

What does the collaboration and the branding process look like?

Everything starts with a discovery call in which you can get to know me, tell me all about your project, your company and your wishes for your branding. After that, I will present to you what I can and could do for your banding (by showing examples) and show you the steps of the whole process, before presenting the different branding packages to you.

If you’d like, I will then send you a proposal after this first call. You can take your time to decide if we would be a good fit. If yes, a payment of an initial deposit of 50% is required to secure the execution of the project. We will begin with the work as soon as I receive the payment. And then it is time to get creative – yay!

To kick off our time together, I will then send you an on-boarding questionnaire, which will be the basis for our collaboration and your branding.

All of my custom branding work, e.g. the logo, the brand elements or the typographic logo are hand created by me. It is a conscious process of designing the perfect branding for you – stroke by stroke. That is what custom means to me.

Mood board and presentations

After receiving your filled out questionnaire, I will create a mood board based on the information that you have given me. For the mood board, I will compile some inspiration images.

Following that, I will also create a first presentation with words to describe your brand, your brand values, the first colour palettes and typography recommendations. I might also present some first logo drafts (yay, exciting!).

Accompanying this presentation, you will receive a questionnaire to share your impressions with me and give your feedback. Based on this questionnaire, I will continue to work on your branding, make adjustments or continue on the path that we’ve embarked on.

You can view the mood board like a rough sketch. Not refined yet, but being a great starting point.

Once I am finished with this process, I will send you a new presentation, that will also be accompanied by a questionnaire (they are pretty to look at and fun – I promise!). We will then have a new video call in which we can discuss everything in detail – the presentation but also your feedback.

After this, I will continue to refine or slowly wrap up our project.

I love working on all the details, refining your branding and tying up any loose ends.

Final presentation and Branding Guide

The longer our time together goes on, the shorter the accompanying questionnaires will become. And the presentations will get more and more concise.

In the end I will have developed a final presentation and branding guide with your logo(s), branding colours, typography etc.

This is the final logo that I created for Katrin Vonderheid-Wunderlich. With the logo we wanted to convey Katrin’s values, her personality and the seasonal flowers that she offers.

I created a complete branding for Katrin, you can look at it and learn about it here.

So, that’s the whole process. Let me know if you have any questions!

I would love to create your unique floral branding or a bespoke commission just for you! Feel free to reach out and make an inquiry.

Love, Zainab

Gathering inspiration for my pattern collections

This week I thought I’d share with you, how I gather inspiration for my pattern collections.

I’ve really made a deep dive into pattern design in the last week. I’ve been gathering more inspiration for my patterns and looking at the artwork that I’ve created the last months (or years…). And I’ve started to pick up again where I left off on this surface pattern design journey.

Non-floral custom product painting & perfume illustrations

I am always experimenting with new painting designs. And it was time to come up with some designs for clients or customers who would like to have a design that was not floral in nature.

So I sat down and experimented with my paints and got inspired by the beautiful perfume bottles and product packaging that surrounded me.

The possibilities are endless when it comes to the designs. And I want to begin by sharing just a few. These designs are perfect for both in-studio and events live on-site.

Floral perfume illustrations

Since creating my first perfume illustration, I have wanted to marry my love for flowers with my love for perfume illustrations. And now that I have done it, I am so glad I did!

It was so interesting to see how different perfume bottle designs are for women and men. Sketching out the different bottle designs was therefore a lot of fun as they varied so much. And the colour choices for the female and male bottle designs were also so versatile. So it was really inspiring to experiment with different colour palettes!

It is my dream to create some of these illustrations for a magazine as a spot or editorial illustration, for a perfume brand etc. for an advertisement. Or even perform this skill live at a live event for a beauty brand!
